If you haven't heard of this event you can read all about it here http://poker.meetup.com/89/calendar/7219801/ - I am off to play it today and am not probably in the best condition for a marathon poker tournament after playing till the early hours last night at Loose Cannon in their £15 beginner event and then in the cash games. I did though finish 10th and got my money back and then doubled up on the cash table with KJ vs K4 with an all in from the K4 on a flop of K 6 8 so happy days!!!!

Just worried I may have used up my allocation of poker luck this weekend

I will report back after the first dat - Fingers crossed I am still in!!

The fact that I am writing this is because I got knocked out day 1 - So quick review

Good things:

I chased a flush and hit on the river bringing me to 30k before the first break

People respected my raise for the first three hours

40 minute blinds and 20k starting chips is genius!

Side prizes like a keg for winning with a 7.2 offsuit or a bottle of vodka for winning with a 2.3

Bad things

I folded my kings to a pocket 7's bluff on the flop

The guy at our table knocked kara out after the first break leaving noting but overweight men to look at

It was a beautiful day outside and I was playing poker in a humid room with no natural light

I raised way too much and way to many times with a 7.2 off suit for a keg of beer I could have bought in Tescos for under £20

So how did I go out......

Blinds 400, 800 with a 100 ante - I am big bling with 5,500 chips left looking at a KQ offsuit - It folds round to the small blind - He raises me 3,000 I go all in - He thinks he has me covered turns his card over with revealing a K2 - I too turn over at which point we realise he still has 2,500 to pay - RULING!!! It is decided he can choose whether to fold or put the 2,500 in - He puts it in and hits a dam 2 on the turn!!!!!!!! Bastard!!

You won't believe it the guy that invited me to this tournament Steve who runs blapo.co.uk actually went and won the thing which is massively impressive considering his stack was pretty low when we shared a table at the start. In fact he was the guy that didn't respect my bluffs and I was the guy who respected his bluffs but not his real raises - Probably my biggest mistake in retrospect!!
