A question what is the best way to play pocket jacks pre flop, from early middle and late position. My general theme is that this hand needs to be played fast (i.e raise the pot or re-raise) but throw away if the texture of the pot is bad or put under heavy pressure pre flop. Put simply this hand for me is an ideal blind stealing sort of hand. I would be particularly interested in hearing the opinions of TAG’s though all suggestions welcome.

By my calculations with an A on the flop with 5 players it would be as follows

Win 34.78%
Tie 0.22%
Odds 1.87 to 1

with 10 players still in it would be

Win 12.05%
Tie 0.08%
Odds 7.27 to 1

With three suits on the flop that are less than J with not one of them yours (e.g. 10H 7H 3H and you have a Jd and JS)and with 5 people it would be

Win 23.72%
Tie 1.44%
Odds 3.15 to 1

and with 10 people

Win 7.23%
Tie 0.4%
Odds 12.59 to 1

Scarey stuff!

What I usually do is watch the flop. I will call somewhat big bets on the flop, and if nothing threatening comes out, then I do a pot size bet. Watch out, they look better than they really are.
